Obedience is the Key!

Monday April 20, 2020

One of the best gifts God gave to man is the will power i.e. the ability to choose. And God himself respects your will (Rev. 3:20); but you will give account of how you used it on the last day.

Matthew 7:24‭-‬27 KJV
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Matthew 7:24‭-‬27 MSG
“These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundational words, words to build a life on. If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock. Rain poured down, the river flooded, a tornado hit—but nothing moved that house. It was fixed to the rock. “But if you just use my words in Bible studies and don’t work them into your life, you are like a stupid carpenter who built his house on the sandy beach. When a storm rolled in and the waves came up, it collapsed like a house of cards.”

One of the best gifts God gave to man is the will power i.e. the ability to choose. And God himself respects your will (Rev. 3:20); but you will give account of how you used it on the last day.

A house cannot exist without a foundation. The solidity and sustainability of the house is also determined by the foundation. But you get to choose the type of foundation and whether your house will stand or not in the day of trouble; which no one can escape. The storms and tests of life is a given i.e. it will happen to everyone. The best you can do is prepare for it: by making the right choices.

The bottom line, according to Jesus, is our obedience to his words. Every time you read, study and hear God's word and you obey, do and practice it; you're choosing and building a 'Rocky Foundation' that can withstand anything thrown at it. It also shows you're wise and not foolish. But when you disobey God's word, you're not wise and simply setting yourself up for a disaster. A disobedient Christian is a disaster waiting to happen!

Prayer/Reflection: Lord, I don't want to just use your words in Bible studies and not work them into my life. I choose to be a wise Christian. Please help me to love and obey your word more and more in Jesus name
