Is There Fire 🔥 On Your Altar? Part 1

2 Corinthians 13: 5 - Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified.
In the Old Testament, God gave very clear instructions to the priests; "The fire on the altar shall be kept burning on it; it shall not go out. The priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and he shall arrange the burnt offering on it and shall burn on it the fat of the peace offerings. Fire shall be kept burning on the altar continually; it shall not go out.” (Leviticus 6: 12-13). The fire must not be allowed to go out. It must be burning continuously as a matter of necessity. This was God's commandment to the priests.
Very importantly, the same command applies to us whom Jesus has made 'kings and priests to His God and Father, (Rev. 1:6). This eternal fire represents God's continuous presence, holiness, and the necessity of perpetual worship on the altar of our hearts. The altar must be kept aflame always, and the fire 'must never go out'. Imagine the state of a heart 'altar' without fire, whose fire has gone out. Such altar may only boast of cold ashes which has no flame. This typifies a 'Christian' who has become spiritually dead, and lacks zeal, passion, and hunger for God. They're empty, powerless and irrelevant; "having a form of godliness but denying its power" (1 Tim. 3:5).
Beloved, a fire-less Christian life brings your identity under questioning by the devil and the world. Remember that the devil focused on Jesus's sonship and identity during his test (read Matt.4: 3, 6). Satan's focus and goal has not changed, and it's to make every child of God a nonentity and totally irrelevant. This is achievable when your altar becomes dead and dry without fire. You may have the name, title, language and appearance but lack the true life, power and fire that characterize a true Christian. This type of Christian can never be a threat to the devil or impact the world.
Prayer: O God my father, I admit that my altar is dry and empty and my axe has become dull. Please revive me and restore my first love for you and set me on fire again. In Jesus name.
