Let God Lead You Through Your Spirit. Part 1

Proverbs 20: 27 - "The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly."

Man is a spirit and your spirit is the real you. You are a spirit, you have a soul and you live in a body. The body is the house for both your spirit (the real you) and your soul (the seat of your mind, will, intellect and emotions). When you became born-again, it is your spirit that was born-again and not your soul or your body. Note that John 3: 6 says: "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."

Having been born again, therefore, and received the Holy Spirit; your spirit is now the place where the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, resides. God seeks to guide you through your spirit. Our key scripture above says: "The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord..." “Candle” represents lamp or light. In other words, your spirit is the place where God seeks to shine His light so you always know what to do. God wants you to live confident of His leading from your spirit. This is even more so because the Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit. (Rom. 8:16).

Someone asks, "How do I know God's will for me?” How do I know what God is saying to me about so and so situation?" The answer is: He guides you by His Spirit through your spirit. The Psalmist says, "For You will light my lamp; The LORD my God will enlighten my darkness." (Psa. 18:28). His light shining in your spirit illuminates you as to what His will is or what you should do. And as you learn to listen to the instructions God’s Spirit is laying on your heart, you know more and more when God is talking to you.

Prayer: Dear Father, thank you for the privilege to be led of your Spirit. The entrance of your words give light, therefore as I continually grow in the knowledge of your Word, I do not walk in darkness but I have the light of life. I know what to do and how to go by the wisdom of the Spirit in Jesus' Name. Amen.
